Taking off to new heights with Microsoft's Security and Identity offerings

 


As I write I'm still suffering from a small amount of jetlag, having flown back from Seattle, USA at the weekend.  I was there to take part in a partner conference hosted by Microsoft.  The conference was dubbed the Microsoft Security Engineering Partner Airlift, the aim to bring top partners to Seattle from every part of the world.

I am pictured above with Kocho colleagues, and with Rohit Gulati, Verified ID guru and Principal Product Manager for Microsoft Entra, and Ankur Arora, Principal Group Manager in the CX Engineering Team and our host last week for the conference.

Much of the content discussed was under NDA and geared at partner preparedness, but there were 4 main takeaways I'd like to discuss:

Identity feature development shows no signs of slowing: Microsoft's engineering teams are not just pushing boundaries; they're shattering them. At the airlift, they unveiled an array of enhancements to their Entra ID features, providing businesses with a more comprehensive Identity and Governance Toolset than ever.

Verified ID Takes Center Stage: Microsoft's Verified ID solution is making a difference. With the introduction of live face check technology, the impact is undeniable. Attendees at the summit witnessed first hand how this innovative feature is not only enhancing security measures but also revolutionizing the way we verify identities, ensuring authenticity and trust in every interaction.

Copilot Takes Flight: Prepare for a paradigm shift in Azure management as Microsoft's Copilot takes center stage. This groundbreaking tool is set to revolutionize numerous aspects of working with Azure, offering unparalleled insights and capabilities. From assisting IT administrators in understanding complex identity and security frameworks to optimizing workflows and enhancing overall efficiency, Copilot is poised to be a game-changer in the realm of cloud computing.

LinkedIn now uses Verified ID for Employee verification

  Microsoft Verified ID is a digital identity verification solution that enables individuals to obtain digital "credentials" from organisations that know them, or more accurately, that know some aspect of their identity.  For example, their name, their educational qualifications, or in this case, their employment status.  These credentials can then be shared with third-party organizations, such as employers or educational institutions, in a secure and trusted manner.  LinkedIn, which is owned by Microsoft, has integrated with Microsoft Verified ID to allow LinkedIn members to verify their employment status. Using this new integration, employers can create a custom process for verifying employees, and employees, once they have done this, can present the credential to LinkedIn in order to obtain the new green "check mark" on their LinkedIn profile.
