AI with everything?

Some of you may have noticed that Microsoft can't bring themselves to make an anouncement these days without injecting a large amount of AI (CoPilot in their case).


Microsoft's efforts to integrate Copilot across all of its identity and security products seem promising, with potential benefits and drawbacks to consider:

Possible Benefits:

  • Enhanced User Experience: Copilot can streamline tasks and automate repetitive actions within various Microsoft products. This could make them more user-friendly and efficient, especially for non-technical users.
  • Increased Productivity: By automating tasks and offering helpful suggestions, Copilot can potentially save users time and effort, allowing them to focus on more complex aspects of their work.
  • Improved Creativity: Copilot's ability to answer questions based on web searches can spark new ideas and help users explore different creative directions/
  • Accessibility: Copilot's features like summarizing PDFs and answering questions directly within the browser can make information more accessible to users with different learning styles or abilities.

Potential Drawbacks:

  • Over-reliance on AI: Overdependence on Copilot for tasks could hinder users' ability to learn and solve problems independently.
  • Privacy Concerns: Microsoft needs to ensure user privacy regarding data collected by Copilot, especially when it comes to personal information and browsing habits.
  • Limited Functionality: Copilot is still under development, and its capabilities might not be robust enough for all tasks or user needs.

LinkedIn now uses Verified ID for Employee verification

  Microsoft Verified ID is a digital identity verification solution that enables individuals to obtain digital "credentials" from organisations that know them, or more accurately, that know some aspect of their identity.  For example, their name, their educational qualifications, or in this case, their employment status.  These credentials can then be shared with third-party organizations, such as employers or educational institutions, in a secure and trusted manner.  LinkedIn, which is owned by Microsoft, has integrated with Microsoft Verified ID to allow LinkedIn members to verify their employment status. Using this new integration, employers can create a custom process for verifying employees, and employees, once they have done this, can present the credential to LinkedIn in order to obtain the new green "check mark" on their LinkedIn profile.
